Burundian National Found Dead in Lusaka Shop; Suspect Shot Dead by Police

In a tragic incident in Lusaka’s John Leing Compound, a 35-year-old man, believed to be of Burundian nationality, was discovered dead inside his rented shop. Identified as Anderson Uwela, the victim suffered fatal injuries, including deep cuts on his forehead, suspected to have been inflicted with a machete during the early hours of March 24, 2024.

Amidst ongoing investigations, one suspect, Robert Sinkala, 25, also known as Kelony, was apprehended by the Police. Sinkala, wanted for various crimes including murder and aggravated robberies in the area, was detained for questioning. However, in a dramatic turn of events, he attempted to flee custody and was fatally shot by officers upon his escape attempt, succumbing to his wounds upon arrival at the University Teaching Hospital.

Authorities continue to pursue leads in the case, with recovered weapons and ongoing forensic examinations aimed at shedding light on the circumstances surrounding the tragic death of Anderson Uwela and the subsequent demise of suspect Robert Sinkala.
