The renowned transwoman and social media influencer, Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky, garnered attention this week due to legal issues stemming from the mutilation of naira notes. However, this incident is not the initial encounter Bobrisky has had with law enforcement, as the influencer has been arrested and detained on three previous occasions.

1. November 2017
In November 2017, a rift emerged between Bobrisky and Toyin Lawani, a star of the Real Housewives of Lagos. Lawani reported Bobrisky to the police, alleging that Bobrisky had sent unfamiliar cars to monitor her and her children. Additionally, Lawani accused Bobrisky of stealing her clients. Subsequently, Lawani filed a petition with the police concerning threats to her life and Bobrisky’s involvement. Bobrisky was subsequently arrested. However, upon release, Bobrisky claimed that Lawani had involved the police because Bobrisky refused to apologize for allegedly “stealing her clients.”
2. May 2020
In 2020, Bobrisky faced another arrest, this time on an allegation of fraud involving ₦30 million. An unidentified businesswoman lodged a complaint with the police, accusing Bobrisky of deceitfully obtaining ₦30 million from her. Bobrisky was subsequently apprehended in the Lekki region of Lagos State.
The Police Public Relations Officer at the time, Frank Mba, confirmed the arrest and disclosed that the case was undergoing investigation.
“Yes, Bobrisky was arrested in the early hours of today following a petition by a Nigerian woman alleging that the cross-dresser received ₦30 million from her for business purposes but failed to fulfill the terms of the agreement,” he stated.
However, Bobrisky was later granted bail due to the COVID-19 lockdown restrictions in Lagos.
3. April 2024
Most recently, Bobrisky was arrested by the EFCC on April 3, 2024, for abusing the naira.
The agency stated that the influencer was arrested for spraying and flaunting wads of new naira notes at the premiere of the film, Beasts of Two Worlds, on March 24, 2024.

In a lengthy Twitter post, he shared a story Kizz Daniel made in the past while talking about his wife, who he revealed believed in him when he started his music career. The singer disclosed that his wife would bring food for him when he spent hours in the studio and was mocked by her friends who claimed he couldn’t sing.
Kizz Daniel stated that his wife and his brother stood by him and were the only ones liking his posts, and she was the one who paid for his first song, which was N10,000.
Using his story as a case study, Dr Pharouk stated that men are grateful people as there is nothing one would do for them that they will forget completely. He avowed that men will always be there for women who stood by them and respected them at their low moments.

Popular skit maker, Sabinus reminds Nigerians that it’s naira they shouldn’t spray as he begs them to spray perfume while recounting an unpleasant experience after hugging a fan.
The content creator took to social media to raise an alarm as he claimed that a lot of Nigerians are no longer spraying perfume.
He reminded them that what the government said was they shouldn’t spray naira notes, however, some have taken it upon themselves not to also spray perfume.
