legit information has it that PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema has with immediate effect, removed three Constitutional Court judges from their positions as adjudicators of the highest court.
the said Mr Hichilema’s decision was acting on the recommendation in the report presented to him by the Judicial Complaints Commission(JCC).
According to sources, the removed judges are Anne Sitali, Judge Mungeni Mulenga and Judge Palan Mulonda.
State House chief communication specialist Clayson Hamasaka said in a statement that the removal of the said Judges is in exercise of the powers vested in the President in Article 143 (b) and (c) of the Constitution of the Republic of Zambia.
The removal of the trio comes barely a fortnight after the JCC commenced sittings to hear a complaint against them.
In a bit to follow up legally, Lusaka resident Moses Kalonde had filed a complaint before JCC alleging gross misconduct and I’ll qualification of the three judges.
Last week, Constitutional Court judge Margaret Munalula and he predecessor Hildah Chibombo were summoned by the JCC to testify before it during hearing of the same complaint.
The three are not the first Judges to be removed by President Hichilema since he assumed office in 2021.
The removed judges join High Court judges Wilfred Muma, Sunday Nkonde, Timothy Katanekwa and Joshua Banda

FORMER Attorney General Musa Mwenye was involved in a road traffic accident this morning when his vehicle lost control and crashed into the gate of the Copperbelt University building in Lusaka.
It is alleged that Mr Mwenta who is also former ACC chairperson, allegedly caused the accident while under the influence of alcohol.
Police Deputy Spokesperson Godfrey Chilabi said police have since instituted investigations into the alleged offence of driving under the influence of alcohol.
Mr Chilabi said the accident occurred today, October 20, 2024, at around 04:00 hours along Lake Road near Kwacha Square Institute, opposite Choppies, in Lusaka.
“Brief facts of the matter indicate that Mr Musa Mwenye, 49, of Stand 22858, Kabulonga, was driving a Toyota Hilux with registration number BAX 1085 when he lost control and crashed into a gate, causing significant damage to the vehicle,” he said.
Mr Chilabi said preliminary investigations reveal that the accident occurred when Mr Mwenye lost control of the vehicle, which struck the gate, forced it open, and subsequently crashed into a window of the Copperbelt University building.
“A breathalyzer test was administered, revealing an alcohol content higher than the legal limit of 0.38 mg/100 ml.Mr Mwenye was briefly held at Woodlands Police Station but was immediately released to seek further medical attention,” he said.
He added that the vehicle remains at Woodlands Police Station, and further investigations into the offence of driving under the influence of alcohol are ongoing.
