That boy was just 12 years old when he came so I took him like my lastborn(our lastborn is 2 years older than him). He lives in my house comfortably, I provide all he needs, he eats whatever he wants. He has access to my room anytime.
He served me for 7 years and on the 7th year which was March 2023, I settled him by renting a big shop for him somewhere close to mine. I paid 2 years rent for the shop which is 1.6m, stocked up the shop with goods worth 2.5m and gave him the keys. I also paid 500k into his account which I learnt his father took 300k from it.
After I settled him, I employed a salesgirl in my shop and still allowed him to continue living in my house. Nothing changed, I still feed and clothe him, he stays there even when I travel. Some people advised me to rent another house for him and even told me it was wrong to rent a shop close to mine for him.
I didn’t listen to their advice because to me, I didn’t see anything wrong with it. He’s my younger brother from the same kindred and since he has been living with me I’ve not had any much problem with him aside the normal stubborn youthful exuberance that took over him as he was growing.
Whenever I want to order for my goods, I let him know Incase he wants to order as well so my driver’s will convey both his own goods and mine with my trucks at once but he will always say he has no money at hand.
When my goods finally arrive, he will want to buy some cartons of tiles from me at the same original price I buy from company and I’ll oblige with the excuse that he was still finding his balance. Sometimes when my warehouse and packing store is filled and there are still goods to off-load, I allow him take them to his shop and pay me as he sells.
I bring in goods monthly but I still find out that my shop was becoming empty and I was having no profit. My goods kept reducing yet I wasn’t seeing the money. I asked my salesgirl severally if she was selling on credit to anybody and she said No. I complained of my observation and she assured me that everything was intact.
One of my frequent customer who knows my truck called me one day and told me that he saw my driver offloading some goods in her area and was asking if I now have any shop around there. It was a Monday and here on the east, the industrial Market observes sit-at-home every Monday so it was definitely not me.
I told her I wasn’t in the state and I’m not sure it’s my truck, probably my driver went to offload for someone else. However, when I came back from my trip I decided to find out what that woman told me. As my goods arrived the next month on a Monday, I instructed the driver to take them to my packing store and I tracked him with my car behind.
It was a shock as I watched two of my drivers, my salesgirl and my boy offload almost half of my goods in one open space. After the were done, my salesgirl left and my boy with the drivers entered the truck and continued to my packing store. It was a rude shock, I still doubted myself even though I saw it with my two eyes.
Long story cut short, I arrested all of them and it was at the station that I got more shocked. My boy who is just 19years old has been sleeping with my salesgirl of 17years(she’s waiting to write jamb) inside my warehouse.
My boy and my drivers had been stealing from me for over 2 years, selling my stolen goods at a very cheap rate to his friends that also sell tiles and sharing the money between themselves. They incorporated my salesgirl into the deal as soon as I employed her and they’ve been giving her own cut to her.
The police seized their phones and we got their bank statements as well. These team of the.ive.s made over 30m from me and I’m shocked to my bones. I told the police to release them after some days since their parents all got involved and were willing to settle things.
I’ve cleared all the goods in my boy’s shop and locked it up. My business has experienced a huge turn since the rumor went like wildfire into the whole industrial Market. My shop has been flooded by customers and in two weeks I’ve made sales that I wasn’t able to make with my salesgirl in 9 months.
I need a sales personnel and drivers to fill the vacancies but I’ve lost that capacity to trust anyone henceforth. I only hear this as stories but never saw it coming to me but it’s well. So far, I have been able to recover 6m from their accounts through the help of the police.

I have learnt so much from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his political moves.
I have learnt also from President Donald Trump.
I have learnt from the Holy Koran just as I have learned from the Holy Bible.
And That’s how I maintain a constant flow of inspiration – by keeping an open mind.
Trump’s intentional use of Crypto, Religion and Nationalism is worth studying.

UNIVERSITY of Zambia student’s quest to become a doctor has been temporarily halted after he was together with his ‘business’ partner for stealing phones from six students.
The student, Mike Musonda, 26, and his co-accused Equinox Tembo,24, unemployed, were jailed three years imprisonment with hard labour for stealing six phones valued at more than K14,000.
Musonda and Tembo appeared in court last week charged with six counts of theft, offences committed between August 1 and October 31, 2024.
Between the same dates, the duo stole a samsung galaxy M34 worth K4,500 from Grace Chanda, while in the second count, the accused stole an Iphone 6 worth K2,000 from Beatrice Mutale.
Accusations in the third count are that the accused stole a Huawei Pic Lite with K2,500 from Natasha Nyawa and that in the fourth count, the duo also stole an Itel S23 phone worth K2,500 from Catherine Chipasha.
In count five, the accused stole an Itel KB7 worth K2,600 from Dorcas Moyo and later stole a Techno pop 6 valued at K,1,800, the property of Mishel Siwale, in respect of the last count.
The both admitted the charges before Lusaka magistrate Amy Masoja-Chilangwa and told the court they had no claim to right to the phones.
Evidence is that during the material times, the first complaint, Ms Chanda, an UNZA student, was on her way to campus when she met Musonda, who introduced himself as an entrepreneur.
Musonda, who informed Ms Chanda that he was looking for people to ‘work’ with, later introduced her to Tembo, while at UNZA campus.
At the time, Ms Chanda had called her friend Beatrice Mutale informing her about a ‘job’ the two gentlemen were offering.
The accused later told Ms Chanda and Ms Mutale that they needed to capture their details so that they could give them identity cards for the ‘job’.
The accused then got a Samsung and an iPhone phone from the ladies on the pretext that they would get some details from the gadgets.
Musonda left with the phones leaving behind Tembo with the ladies before the latter also excused himself claiming that he wanted to use the toilet before he disappeared.
After realizing that they had been duped, the two ladies rushed to the university main entrance to alert security.
On the way, the duo met Tembo who then fled before the ladies ,security guards and other students pursued him while shouting thief.
After being apprehended, Tembo led security guards to the apprehension of Musonda before the duo was taken to Kalundu Police Post.
When news of the detention of the duo spread through campus, other affected students emerged and reported that their phones were equally stolen in a similar manner.
The affected victims went to Kalundu Police Station and gave their statements and positively identify the accused as the ones who stole their phones, which were not recovered.
In mitigation, Musonda, a medical student, asked for forgiveness because he had learnt a lesson while in remand
I’ve seen how much my friends are in pain because they now know that freedom is important. I’ve lost my sister and I am the first born. If I go for a long time, my family will be in pain” he said.
The convict said his conduct was motivated by joining bad company saying “It’s just that the friends I met made me start doing bad things’,” Musonda said.
The court heard that Musonda is a third year student but never wrote exams.
“So, instead of studying you were duping people” the magistrate said.
On his part, Tembo equally asked for leniency, pledging never to re-offend because “I am not supposed to do bad things. I want to go back to school. I want to rewrite biology”.
“You want to join him(Musonda) after rewriting biology,” the magistrate queried.
The magistrate observed that the convicts were not fully remorseful for stealing students phones, which carry vital information.
She sentenced them to three years imprisonment each.
