VICE-President Mutale Nalumango’s media  liaison officer Njenje Chizu and his family have sued former Zambia Army commander Lieutenant General Paul Mihova in the Lusaka High Court for the ‘combat fatigue’ suffered by his daughter after laying siege to his home.

Chizu who has sued on behalf of his daughter and his wife Chimwemwe are demanding damages for mental torture, inconvenience and anguish as a result of the torture they were subjected to by military personnel.

In their statement of claim, the family states that on November 20, 2022 Lt.Gen Mihova commandeered a team of Zambia Army soldiers to lay siege to his home and perpetrated an escapade of battery on him and his wife.

He said armed military personnel forced themselves into his home without a search warrant and pointed AK47 rifles to their heads.

Chizu said the soldiers led him to the bathroom in his bedroom whilst his wife was having a bath and broke the door.

He said his wife was was subjected to degrading treatment as she was forced out of bathroom naked and ordered her to lie down on the floor.

Chizu said his wife was not allowed to cover herself as the soldiers threatened to use lethal force against them.

“The atrocities and malevolent acts by general Mihova were witnessed by the minor who suffered nervous shock in the aftermath of the ordeal orchestrated by the defendants,” the couple said.

“The minor to date exhibits signs of trauma and has constant nightmares and constant fears during the night and has been diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (P.T.S.D).”

The plaintiffs are demanding damages for trespass to be assessed by the court.

They want damages caused to household goods and exemplary damages.
