‘We have been lied to’ – Seun Kuti reacts to Forbes billionaire list

Afrobeat artist Seun Kuti has raised skepticism regarding the credibility of the 2024 billionaire list recently published by American magazine Forbes.

According to Forbes, the world’s top five wealthiest individuals include France’s fashion mogul Bernard Arnault ($233 Billion) and American entrepreneurs Elon Musk ($195 Billion), Jeff Bezos ($194 Billion), Mark Zuckerberg ($177 Billion), and Larry Ellison ($141 Billion).

The report indicates that these five individuals have collectively increased their wealth to a staggering $869 billion since the onset of the COVID-19 lockdown.

However, Kuti contested the authenticity of the list, asserting that such accumulation of wealth is unattainable through sheer hard work.

Taking to his social media platform, he remarked, “The world’s 5 richest men since lockdown have increased their wealth to a combined total of 869bn US dollars. That means they can spend 1 million dollars a day for the next 476 years. No one can work that hard. We have been misled.”
